Answer: No, LiveZilla is 100% Freeware. No hidden costs. No catch.
Originally, LiveZilla was developed for our very own requirements. At this time we have several commercial projects running so we decided to give this one out for free.

Answer: The server-side scripts are written in PHP. This allows us to achieve maximum compatibility, excellent reliability and minimum server requirements. The LiveZilla Web Client is based on HTML and JavaScript (AJAX) which enables us to avoid any kind of plug-ins like Java®, Silverlight® or Flash®. Finally, the LiveZilla Desktop Client and the LiveZilla Server Admin are based on the Microsoft .NET Framework.
|
|
Answer: LiveZilla is available for all websites. You can use LiveZilla on both commercial and non-profit websites as long as you meet our terms of use.
|
|
Answer: Most online scripts will only show you "active users". In case a visitor of your website stopped browsing from page to page he will be kicked from the list after a certain time. LiveZilla is able to also show you these visitors (which are inactive but still on your website!). Some people are browsing your website from a computer which runs 24/7 (e.g. a server) and don't close the browser when they leave the computer. You will see these visitors until they close the browser or leave your website. In some cases these people can be "online" for weeks. In case you don't want to see inactive users please activate the option "Hide visitors" which can be found in the server configuration form.
But there's another major difference between LiveZilla and other statistic tools. Most companies (and even private homes) are using a router which is used as gateway to the internet and all computers behind this router are sharing the same IP. While common statistic tools are working based on visitor IP's, LiveZilla is able to differ between the users (and even between different browsers of each user).

Answer: All chats are allocated equally and randomized by default.
Please consider that this behaviour can be influenced by the script you use. You can set that every call coming over a certain script is going to a certain operator / group. Some people forgot that they set this option and wonder why only one operator / group receives calls. You can also use this feature to simulate a priority mode. You can create a chat button (e.g.) that points to your primary operator. This operator will now receive every call. If he sets his status to "Away" or "Busy" the secondary operator will get the calls.
Another thing to keep in mind is that each user will remember the operator he was talking to. If a website visitor ABC was allocated to operator XYZ once, he will always be allocated to XYZ when this operator is available. This is based on cookies.
That can be confusing and you can easily cheat yourself but its the best practise.

The visitor poll frequency can be found here: LiveZilla Server Admin -> Server Configuration -> Server Settings.

Answer: The PHPInfo function outputs a large amount of information about the current state of PHP. This includes information about PHP compilation options and extensions, the PHP version, server information and environment (if compiled as a module), the PHP environment, OS version information, paths, master and local values of configuration options, HTTP headers, and the PHP License. Because every system is setup differently, phpinfo() is commonly used to check configuration settings and for available predefined variables on a given system.
phpinfo() is also a valuable debugging tool as it contains all EGPCS (Environment, GET, POST, Cookie, Server) data. To run PHPinfo you must save the following lines of code in a file on your computer using the text editor: <?php phpinfo ();?>. Save the file under the name info.php and upload it to your webserver. Open the file in your browser.

If you don't want this page you can replace the index.php file within your LiveZilla Server folder on your webserver by an empty or redirecting index file (index.htm, index.html, index.php ...).
For security reasons please make sure that there is always an index file available. Unauthorized persons may be able to browser your file structure elsewise.

Answer: An instance number enables you to select which instance of LiveZilla (if you want to connect to multiple LiveZilla servers at the same time using multiple instances of the LiveZilla Operator Client) (auto-) connects to which server.
Example: You run two different websites and you want to connect to both of them at the same time. Set instance number "1" for your first server and instance number "2" for the second one. When starting the Operator Client of LiveZilla twice the first instance will now connect to your first server, the second instance will connect to the server profile with instance number "2".

Answer: Of course, you can install multiple LiveZilla Servers, one for each of your websites, and if you need to configure LiveZilla with no compromises this may be the
only option you have but in some situations it makes sense to use just one single LiveZilla Server with multiple websites.
Advantages of using just one server:
1.) You only need to administrate, setup and maintain one single server.
2.) You need to apply modifications or updates only one time.
3.) Your operators only need one client to provide support for multiple websites.
4.) You, as the administrator, have the best overview.
Advantages of using multiple LiveZilla Servers, one for each of your websites:
1.) You can have different configurations for each of your websites.
2.) The website visitor will see the domain name of the regarding website when entering the chat.
If you consider to setup just one single LiveZilla Server the following hints might be interesting for you.
Well, so how can I use one LiveZilla Server with multiple websites?
It makes no difference if you setup one website or multiple websites. In any case, you just have to include the LiveZilla tracking code into the websites source code once your have completed the installation of the LiveZilla Server.
I need to have different chat header images, how can I achive this?
While it's not possible to setup this using the Server Configuration, you can pass a link of the chat header image file via the LiveZilla Chat Button Code. Just create a new chat button code and click the Advanced button and switch to the parameters tab. Paste the absolute URL of the regarding Chat Header Image into the Header Image URL field. Integrate the Chat Button code into your website. For all other websites, act accordingly.
How can I organize my staff? My first operator A is in charge of website X while operator B is in charge of website Y and Z and ...
Create (at least) one user group for each of your websites. Operator A becomes a member of group website A and operator B becomes a member of group website B and so on. Once you finished your group configuration, you have to create fresh website Chat Button codes. When creating the Live Chat button for website A click the Advanced button and select group A as preferred group. Make sure that you have checked hide all other groups. For all other websites, act accordingly.

1.) First of all, please create some Custom Fields, one for each Chat Input Field you like to add. To do so, open the Server Configuration (LiveZilla Server Admin) and switch to the Operator Client tab. Click Add and specify a title for the field. This is not the title which is displayed to your website visitors but it will be used as header title for the new column within the visitor view of the LiveZilla Operator Client.
2.) Once you have added the Custom Fields, switch to the WebClient and click the Edit Chat Inputs Button. Switch to the Custom Chat Inputs tab and select your Custom Fields. The value entered into the Caption field will be displayed to your website visitors. You can directly enter the title for your new Chat Input Fields.
